PRESCHOOL - February 2017

We had so much fun with all of our activities in January so I can't wait to get started
with our February plans!

Here are my February lesson plans!

We are going to study about groundhogs, love, Valentine's Day and the zoo.  I may have gone a little bit crazy on the zoo activities.  This month, I have decided to focus a little more on cutting with scissors, beginning sounds and rhyme, and writing our numbers.  W has been doing so well with the concepts that I decided to do two shapes and colors as well as the numbers 11-14.

One note- I have LOVED using the free materials from "The Measured Mom" site.  One of the requests from her materials page is that I link to her actual website instead of the activity.  So, I wanted to make sure that I did it correctly.  If you click on a link for that site within my plans, just know that everything is under her "Free printables" tab.  These are fabulous resources!

Our favorites from January include:

Painting snowflakes...

Making our snowman with our names...

Playing with our "snow"

The ice sensory play was the BEST...so easy and they loved it!
They were easily entertained for 30 minutes...

 Our penguins...

W and K really do love each other...I'm sure it will be easy to teach about love in February!

Have a Fabulous February!

New Year's in Tulsa, OK

We had a special treat for New Year's...we traveled to Tulsa, OK to meet up with sweet Caroline and David.  The kids were so excited to see their aunt and uncle!

We met up at a pizza joint and enjoyed some yummy pizza and then ventured to a cute park
with an awesome playground!

We got to celebrate their BABY BOY that is due very soon!  We had so much fun
showering them with baby gifts...

The next day, we enjoyed a brunch at Cheesecake Factory and said good-bye!  Next time, we get to see them and a sweet little baby!  We are so excited!!

For the record, Uncle David is the "baby whisperer" because K and W ADORED him
and they don't really like anyone but me and J...

Aunt Caroline was also adored by the littles!!!

The beautiful sunset on the way home...

M's 6th Birthday Party...Kicking Up Some Fun!!!

M was so excited to turn the big SIX!  He decided this fall that he wanted a soccer party and only BOYS allowed.  I managed to make sure that Sissy could come, but other than that, he would not budge!  I booked the local YMCA gym so the kids could play soccer, jump in the bounce house, and play around on the gym equipment.  It turned out to be a really FUN and relaxed party!

The littles had a blast...I think they need to start taking gymnastics lessons!

I love making their birthday banners- I buy them from Etsy, buy ribbon from Michael's
and put it together...easy!

Party favors were soccer cookies...YUM!

The cake was ADORABLE...thanks to Lauri's Sweet Tooth!

M got a UVA football helmet!  He LOVED it!

Thanks to everyone for making M's birthday so special!!!

PRESCHOOL- January 2017

We are so excited about our January preschool plans!  We started today and had so much fun already!  I had such a great time researching new things to do with the littles this month.  W has been doing such a great job with his letters (he knows all of his upper case and lower case letters), his letter sounds (knows almost all of them), his numbers (counting up to 20), and his shapes and colors.  I wanted to start focusing on his phonological awareness skills this month as well as his concept of word in print.  And of course, we are going to do lots of art activities and PLAY!

A few notes:
- If you want the free downloads from the Teacher Pay Teachers site, then you should download them as soon as possible.  Frequently, they are only free for a short time.
- For the rhyme matching game, I only do three pairs at a time.  First, we go over all of the six pictures.  Next, we talk about listen for the sound at the end of the word.  Then, I choose one of the blue cards and say the picture with the choices on the pink card (ex. mouse-tree, mouse-house, mouse-pan).  W tells me which one he thinks is correct.  We go over it if it's incorrect and find the right rhyme.  He enjoyed the game this morning.
-W got the game Mini Muffin Match-up from Aunt Angela for Christmas!  W LOVES it!  I provided the Amazon link if you are interested:)

Here are some of our December activities...the reindeer activity was so much fun and it made the cutest ornaments for the tree!

Enjoy learning about winter, snowmen, polar bears and penguins!!!
