December 2017 Preschool Lesson Plans

The great thing about planning a second year in a row is that you get to use some of the previous year's material.  I had so much fun with the littles last December so we are doing some of the same things this year...gingerbread cookies for example.  I think we are going to do that this weekend so the bigs can also participate!

Here are the December Lesson Plans!  Enjoy!

And Happy Holidays from W and K!

Legendary Santa

We had an amazing holiday traveling to see family!  One very special task that I wanted to do while in town was to visit Legendary Santa.  I went to see Legendary Santa at Miller and Rhoads when I was a little girl and now he is at the Children's Museum.  Well, he is definitely magical because ALL FOUR of my children talked to him and did not cry!  That is a Christmas miracle for my little ones!

B told him that we drove 8 hours to see him so Santa also talked to me about he loved to see me and my babies all grown up- LOVE that Santa!  B asked for Legos (of course), M wants a skateboard (Santa told him that he would have to check with Mom and Dad first), W wants Paw Patrol toys and K told Santa that she wanted Cinderella.

None of them would sit on his lap, but I was so excited to have a picture with all of them and no tears!!!  My Christmas season is off to an amazing start!

November Preschool Lesson Plans

Sooo...I kind of skipped October this year.  It seems to be the busiest time of year for us.  It could have been the busy weekends, the house renovations (redoing bathrooms, painting the whole house, building a wall), my husband's job and busy schedule, four kids, church, Cub Scouts, lacrosse, swim, gymnastics...BUT I have completed November lesson plans for anyone to enjoy (just click on the link)!  Our schedule is tough so I tend to do it in pieces throughout the week.

Happy Fall!!!

Happy Halloween!

Happy Halloween from Harry Potter, Ron Weasley, Professor Severus Snape, and a Fairy!  We chose this family theme because we have loved reading the Harry Potter books with B and M.  I love to do family costumes, but this may be our last year.  Hermione and Hagrid should lead the crew tonight.  We hope you have a fabulous day and get lots of treats!!

W's Race Car Birthday Party

W couldn't wait for his 4th birthday party!  He chose a race car birthday theme!  We decided to do a low-key backyard birthday party and invite some of his friends from preschool and the neighborhood.  We painted a road with spray paint and brought out all of the kids' vehicles from the garage as well as the toy gas pump and a tire pump.  We set up a racetrack for cars to race down and the water table for the car wash.  The kids had so much fun playing!

W is 4 years old...

Four years...we cannot believe that W has been with us for this long!  It seems like yesterday that he was born and now he is in preschool, learning how to read, playing soccer and enjoying his gymnastics class.  He is so funny, but he can be very stubborn!  He knows what he likes and what he doesn't like. He loves to play with his little sister and is almost gleeful when his big brothers let him play Legos with them!  We are so lucky to call him ours!!

This and That...

It has been so long since I have been able to sit down and add to my little blog!  Moving this summer, renovating our house (still ongoing), taking care of the kids, and starting a new job has been very stressful to say the least!  We are involved in so much fun stuff here and we are loving our new place!

B and M are involved in gymnastics, lacrosse, Cub Scouts, and swim team.  They love the physical activity and it helps one of them go to sleep at night!

W and K started preschool and they are also taking a gymnastics class.  They love it when they get to school, but dropping off has not been fun!  W started soccer, but it's not his favorite.  He is learning though.  K would not participate in the dance class much to my sadness but maybe next year!

And I have started working for a company called Moments of Magic Travel where we specialize in helping our clients plan Disney vacations at Walt Disney World, Disney Land, Disney Cruises and anything affiliated with Disney. I am loving planning the magic for my clients!  It is a free service to my clients and I book everything for you and plan your itinerary.  If you or anyone you know is interested, feel free to contact me at kimberlyw@momentsofmagictravel.com.

I hope all of you are well!  It's nice to be back closer to our roots!

September 2017 Preschool Plans

Hello everyone!  We have been SO busy and it would take SO many posts to catch up on what has been going on in our world.  We traveled all summer to visit family and we moved again!  We are settling nicely into our new city and home.  I hope to share our travels from the summer on the blog, but I wanted to post my preschool lessons for September.  The littles are going to preschool, BUT I have loved teaching them at home so I'm going to continue this year.  W has been so sad that we haven't been doing preschool so I wanted to get back to it!  Feel free to use with your kiddos...I had to differentiate for W and K, but other than that, the plans are consistent with what I did last year!

Here is a picture of us starting school and preschool...we are off to a great start!

April Preschool Lesson Plans

Things have been busy here...I finally got my April lesson plans ready to share!

W has learned all of his letters and sounds so we are reviewing them this month as well as rhyme.  We are starting to "read" little books.  He echo reads after me and then we read it together and then he reads it independently.  He has a rudimentary concept of word so this is helping with that as well.  He loves being able to "read it by myself."  We shall see how this goes...I don't want to push him, but he is very interested because he has older brothers who can read.

Happy Spring!

Losing a Tooth

My sweet M lost his FIRST tooth! He was so excited and glad to have it out because it was hanging on by a thread!  We don't pull teeth...we just let them come out on their own.  (That was also my cardinal rule as a first grade teacher...I don't pull teeth because I'm not a dentist!)

He got to put his tooth in the special tooth fairy pillow, but he felt that she also needed a special note. He distinctly remembered that his big brother B got $5.00 for his first tooth so he wanted to ensure that he got the same special treatment.

Here is his note:

It says "first tooth" M.

And here is M without his tooth!  He is getting so big...and of course, he was so excited to get $5.00 from the tooth fairy.  Luckily, they all know that after the first tooth, they only get $1.00 for each tooth.  Otherwise, that would be a very broke tooth fairy!

March Lesson Plans

So excited to share our March preschool lesson plans!

We are going to learn about kings and queens, St. Patrick's Day, the ocean and spring.  I keep adding on more things for W's lessons because he LOVES preschool.  There isn't a day that goes by that he is not demanding to have preschool.  He definitely knows all of his letters and letter sounds so I didn't hesitate to do two letters together (Q and K) for queens and kings.  Normally, I would not do this because they sound so similar, but he is ready for it and it fit well with our theme.

Last month, the kids loved making groundhogs, zebras and giraffes.  I have to say that I am pleasantly surprised with how well they have learned to manipulate small items like gluing on the little eyes and painting with different brushes.  W's cutting skills are getting really good with the daily practice.  He glued on the pieces for the zebra by himself (after I showed him a picture of the example) and I was quite impressed!

Enjoy March and our early spring!

Updates on the Kids

I know that everyone says it, but children grow up so fast...each one of our kids is so special and we love them to the moon and back!  Every night before they go to sleep, we always ask them:
"Who loves you?" And they reply, "Mommy/Daddy and you!"  "How much?" and they say, "More than anything!"  Finally, we ask, "Is that true?" and they say, "YES!"  Even K knows to say yes!

B has been busy swimming, playing basketball, reading Harry Potter, and playing with his Legos.  It took 8 months, but we FINALLY organized all of the Legos from being grouped by colors to put together with directions of each Lego set in plastic containers.  They are loving the new system and can finally spend hours setting up their police station and fire station and pretending to chase the robbers and put out fires.  To hear B and M play, is simply music to my ears.  Here is B swimming in his first swim meet...he didn't place in the top, but he did not DQ in any event!

M continues to follow B in his Lego playing abilities, love of reading (his aunt sent us "How to Eat Fried Worms" and he is intrigued), and playing basketball.  We just watched the UVA v. UNC basketball game and he was pretty sad when UVA lost.  B cheers for UNC while M cheers for UVA because it is where they were born and that seems to be the deciding factor!

Super Bowl FUN!

W LOVES preschool and we have to do it EVERY DAY!!  He knows all of his letters and sounds and is starting to show the ability to start reading.  He loves his weekly music class even though he is really shy.  I think his favorite part is going to lunch at Chick-Fil-A after class!

K is truly a mess!  She is getting close to two so she says no easily, likes to pick out her own clothes and shoes (pink tennis shoes and silver boots are her favorites), and loves her Daddy!  I tried to get her two year photos done and she CRIED for EVERY picture...the boys never did this!  But, she makes up with it in absolute cuteness and the ability to wear bows!!

Daddy got her a special Valentine...a book and bunny - she told him "Love you Daddy!" and "Thank you Daddy!"  She is spoiled rotten!

They are all the loves of my life...
