One of the fall activities that I missed the most when living in Texas was apple picking! When we lived in Virginia, we always went to Carter's Mountain in Charlottesville and enjoyed a fun day of apple picking and eating apple cider donuts! It took me over a year, but we finally made it to go apple picking last weekend in Georgia!
We decided to take off on Sunday morning and head to Ellijay in the northern part of Georgia. It was still a pretty hot day, but a bit cooler in the mountains. We went to B.J. Reece Orchards after I researched about the area and the different options. The biggest draw for me - apple cider donuts!
We started off our day eating those delicious donuts and having apple cider slushies! The kids thought they were amazing and J and I enjoyed having a bite!
The line was long to get into the orchards and to purchase your wrist bands and tickets. They had different package deals, but we ended up paying for admission ($5 each), $14 for two bags of apples, and then paid for tickets for pony rides, apple cannons, and the cow train. We did not do the zip line, but B has already asked to go back next year so we can do it!
The big boys ended up doing the apple cannons as the littles were not interested. They had a blast!
Picking the perfect apples with Daddy!
Each of the kids enjoyed a pony ride (even though B and M said it wasn't as big as the horse that he got to ride in Texas).
Silly kids...they love these things!
The cow train was a favorite for the littles...the tractor actually took them around in a zig-zag pattern and J and I got to sit and wait for them. First time ever that we didn't have to go with a child...very strange feeling for us! We partnered up a big and a little and told the bigs to take care of them!
And we ended with picking apples...the littles said that you pull and twist! Then, we got back on the wagon ride that took us to the apple orchards and went back to the parking lot to go home. It was a really fabulous day and we enjoyed it immensely! I would highly recommend going to this orchard - it was a perfect day trip for us and great memories!
